Neighbourhood Post

This project proposed the adaptive reuse of a historic building on Peel Street, reimagining it as a flagship postal store for Melbourne. The design aimed to celebrate the building’s heritage character while redefining the postal experience for a contemporary urban context.

The proposal retained the existing architectural fabric, highlighting its original masonry façade and period detailing, while introducing carefully considered interventions that connect the building’s history to its renewed civic purpose. Inside, the design juxtaposes the tactile qualities of the old structure with modern materials and technology, reflecting the evolution of communication — from handwritten letters to digital exchange.
